Celebrate Fig Season with Dessert
Summer marks the highly-anticipated fig season. Fig season is the sweet spot between the end of summer stone fruit and the beginning of fall pumpkin and apple recipes. I personally enjoy celebrating this sweet fruit with Fig and Honey Mascarpone Tart.
The creamy filling is whipped and lightly sweetened with lemon zest, honey, and vanilla. These natural sweeteners make for an ideal dessert for those who have a penchant for fruit-derived sweeteners. The oil from the lemon zest releases when the mascarpone is whipped into a fluffy cream cheese cloud. It's delightful!

Ingredients Used to Make a Fig and Honey Mascarpone Tart
Fig and Honey Mascarpone Tart calls for simple ingredients you can find at your local grocery store in the summertime. To make the crust, you will need standard pantry ingredients, including flour and sugar. For the filling and top, you will need honey, ripe figs, lemon zest, and mascarpone.
What is Mascarpone?
Mascarpone is a fir, spreadable Italian cream cheese made from cow's milk and citric acid. It is off-white in color and thick and creamy in texture.
Mascarpone is often used in both sweet and savory Italian dishes, including tiramisu and Lemony Risotto with Peas and Asparagus. It can be sweetened or used as a way to thicken a rich and creamy dish.

How to Make a Fig and Honey Mascarpone Tart
Fig and Honey Mascarpone Tart looks intricate, but it's so easy to make! I love making this tart every summer, and even alternating purple mission figs with tiger figs, peaches, or nectarines.
