Not only does it add a festive color to the plate, but it also adds sweetness to a very savory meal. Its sweet and tart flavor pairs perfectly with the Thanksgiving turkey and stuffing, making for an umami-packed bite.

Cranberry sauce is something that’s also easy to make, so there’s not need to purchase pre-made sauce with additives. This recipe calls for four simple ingredients that make for a sweet, tart citrus-flavored sauce. This homemade citrusy cranberry sauce will brighten up your Thanksgiving meal!

Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients:
12 oz fresh cranberries (3 cups)
1 cup sugar
Juice from one orange
1 strip of orange peel

Instructions

On low heat, cook cranberries, sugar, and orange juice in a saucepan. Twist and squeeze the orange peel and add to the mixture. Stir the ingredients until coated with sugar and allow to cook for 10 minutes, or until the cranberries soften. Turn the heat up to medium and cook until the mixture begins to boil and the cranberries burst, about another 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir, allowing the sauce to thicken. Refrigerate the sauce and place in a serving bowl when ready.
