Strawberry season is upon us! Alec & I drove down to Swanton Berry Farm in Davenport over Memorial Day weekend to kick off the sweetest season of the year the best way we know how: strawberry picking. We had such a great time! Swanton’s U-Pick strawberry field has dozens of rows of organic strawberries ready for guests to pick. We had so much fun picking (& tasting) the strawberries & it was especially nice knowing that Swanton is California Certified Organic, United Farm Workers contracted, and Food Justice Certified. After we scaled each of the rows, we picked an entire flat of ripe & juicy strawberries!
On our way back to town, we stopped off at Gorilla Bbq in Pacifica for a delicious lunch. We ordered beef brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and some yummy sides. Since there isn’t seating at Gorilla and we were pretty hungry (nearing hanger) after spending the morning on the farm, we enjoyed our barbeque in the Element. It was the perfect way to end our little adventure down south.
While you don’t need reservations to visit Swanton’s, I recommend arriving in the morning to beat the rush. It’s a great reason to escape the city for a day and taste some delicious berries!
Psst… stay tuned for a very sweet recipe coming your way!
