Pineapple Watermelon Summer Sangria

If I were to choose one drink to beat the heat, it would have to be sangria. The fresh fruit, chilled white wine, and sparkling water make for the most refreshing spin on this traditionally Spanish drink. Pineapple Watermelon Summer Sangria will make you want summer to never end! Each sip transports you to a tropical vacation.

My best friend Megan and I used to go to Malibu in the summer when I lived in LA. This recipe is inspired by one particular beach day we took when we were home from college. We decided to go to the market with Blackberries in hand and buy tanning oil, pineapple and watermelon spears, and Grey Goose vodka before we headed to the beach. We soaked the fruit in the vodka and ate it as we baked in the sun. While this probably wasn’t the brightest of our ideas, we did discover something pretty life-changing: watermelon and pineapple go really well with alcohol. While I now slather myself with sunscreen and try not to touch vodka with a 10-foot pole, I’m happy to swap it out with a crisp white wine… and a glass pitcher instead of a plastic container.

Pineapple Watermelon Summer Sangria is sweet, bubbly, and refreshing. The sugar from the fruit and wine add flavor and sweetness without detracting the taste of the fruit. You’ll want to make this easy peasy drink for all of your summer barbecues!
